Rambler?/Decals?

Hi,

I just completed service on this 1961 Rambler or what I think is a Rambler.  Any thoughts.  Serial# starts with a "B".

It was refinished by the owner several decades ago and now they want a proper paint job.  Any thoughts on where I could find the correct decals for it?

Thanks and take care, Daryl

Based on the serial number starting with a B and what appears to be a riveted head badge, it is an early 1960s model.During this period, CCM used their basic roadster frame for voth the Rambers and the Imperials. Unfortunately, the serial codes for this period have not been determined and there does not appear to be any extant catalogues, However, the Imperial line was the more upscale of the two, and based tended to have chromed fenders and/or chain guards whuile the Ramblers had these parts painted white. Assuming the chrome has not been painted over, it should be a Rambler.

During this period, the Ramblers often didn't have any markings other than CCM Rambler silkscreened on the chain guard, in red or blue, to match the frame.

Hi Dayrl:

Decals for your Rambler are available from Graphic Lettering Services. Their phone # is 905-983-1010. Ask for Ben. They have a great selection of decals for most CCM bikes and can make new ones from good pic's of old decals if in good shape. If have restored a few bikes including a 1965 Rambler with original paint. I will post a pic of my Rambler for you to see the decals on it. Good luck!

Carl

Thanks T-Mar. I am sure the fenders were painted and not chrome. I have never seen an Imperial in the steel.  I thought the Ramler was more of a youth model.  I have only ever seen Ramblers with 26" (26 x 13/8 OR 26 x 1 1/2) wheels.  Did Imperials come in both 26" and 28" models. Did the Rambler come in a 28"?

Thanks for the contact for decals Carl.  I'll be in touch with graphic letter. They look like laser cut vinyl.  Nice restoration.  Did you mke and paint the rear mudflap?  Is this a 26" (F.12) wheeled bike?

Thnaks agian to you both, Daryl

Daryl, the Imperials and Ramblers were virtually identical bicycles outside of the finish, at least in the coaster brake versions, and both came in Standard (28" wheel), Juvenile (26" wheel), Junior (24" wheel) and Sidewalk (20" wheel) versions. There were also multi-speed Sports and Racer versions (26" wheels) of both, though there were some differences beyond the finish, depending on the year. Finally, for some years there were also Imperial Tandems  and Rambler Cyclets and Bucaneers (both with 18" wheels).

Thanks once again T-Mar.  I see very few Imperials of any size or Ramblers other than the 26" wheeled.  Good to know, at least now if I see the other sizes I won't be so suprised.

Take care, Daryl

Here is the Rambler with new paint!  I added a seat tube decal just for fun.  Every thing came out very well.  Thanks for all the help and guidance.  Carl: Thanks for putting me in touch with Ben. All the best, Daryl

Nice and clean Rambler. I had one last year but i sold it for $50 .

Your bike looks awesome! I'm glad you are happy with Ben's decals. He has a wide variety of decals for all CCM's and they are all of great quality. He specializes in Mustang decals for all years and models as well.
