Really New to vintage bikes

I picked up a so I was told 1969 0r 1970 Super-Cycle for $60. It is a single speed coaster. The seller told me that the bike was actully built by CCM for Canadian Tire under the Super-Cycle badge. To me it looks like a CCM it has the bolt on rear arms which run from the seat post to the wheel arm, but it does not have the CCM in the crank like other bikes I have seen

So I guess my questios are is this really a CCM and how to I figure out the age of it? Last question where is the serial number located and would it show up in a CCM search?

Here is the picture from the seller, the paint is really bad(gold)

The blue CCM is a bike that I am picking up tonight because it is a 6 speed so I can ride in different conditions

Any help on either bike will be greatly appreciated as I am very new to vintage bikes I am thinking about restoring both

Thanks in advance

Scott

The gold supercycle is probably a CCM. They built bikes for quite a few department store brands. It has a cottered crank, so it looks like it has been replaced at some time. The serial number is probably on the rear dropouts, or underneatth the bottom crank bracket.

Here's a link that might help you figure out the age of the bike. It might me a '69 or '70 like you said, but it looks a bit older to me.

Either way its a great find!

As for the blue bike, im not quite sure what model it is as it has obviously been repainted, but the link shpuld aslo help determine the year.

Welcome to the Forum Scott. Nice Supercycle.

Very nice SC! The chainring on it is quite generic. CCM used the kidney rings on some of their bikes. I agree that the cotered doesn't fit with the bike period. It should have been one similar to your CCM.
