Gorgeous bike. Fabulous detailing.  I love the slicks.

Agreed. Gorgeous. No other word for it. Nicely done Dave.

About the comment on the slicks, It was churlish of me to comment on the tires when there was so much else to take in. Is this your project, Dave? It is exceptionally detailed in every respect. That has to be new plating and the floral pattern on the tubes is beautiful. I checked to see if this bike was covered in a previous thread and found nothing here at Vintage CCM. If you have done an account of this restoration elsewhere I'd like read it, otherwise it would be great to read it here.

This has been restored a long time ago . I bought the bike  about a month ago from a friend. i had to do some work to get a front tire on it . The tires are Speciaized ( Fat Boy   modern 700x42 ). These tires look what i think is evey close to what might have been on the bike originally. Bike has all original parts as in wheels hubs pedals and seat .Very pleased with this bike, just a bite big for me to ride .comfortly.Floral pattern i put on ,had them for some time.

It is a big frame. I think the human anatomy must have undergone some change in the last century. I read in an old Rudge Whitworth manual, the recommended frame sizes for various heights. The suggestion at the time, for a 6 foot plus rider were unbelievable. The likes of 24 and 26".  I know only a handful of people who could ride a bike of that size. I'm 6' and I find the 23' to be a the limit of what I can manage safely around town.

What is it like mounting tires on wooden rims?

Mounting tires can be a challenge some times the tire will go on old wood rims but other times you have to work the bead and drop in the middle of rim.  And when you look at a bunch of  old wood rims they all look the same as far as the tire going on.  i have been working with wood rims for some time and i have come to the point that I buy the repro rims made by an Amish shop in the US in Ohio. Excellent work and they also make the rim with an  modern alloy rim in the rim which makes it a lot stronger plus you can't see it when tire is mounted.
