Well preserved Leader Voyageur

I recently got this barely used Leader Voyageur 1980-82 (Shimano hub indicate EK, can't figure out how to date the frame though). The original owner used it a handfull of times then stored it until he sold it. Makes you realise how well a bike can be preserved by being in the right conditions. Just wanted to share. wink

I saw your posting of this on anotther forum. NICE bike. I never tried to decifer the Leader codes. I only had a half dozen Leader bikes.

I had one identical to your's and in the same condition. They ride great.

Too bad CCM didn't put redline tires and chrome fenders on their Fold Ups.

CCM got it right by using apehangers though. smiley

Now I only have 3 Leaders left.

Not a huge fan of the foldups but dang these are nice! Both Rideccm and ccmmusclebikes, Great Bikes guys!
Love seeing the Leader Muscle too. smiley

Nice to see these some well kept Leaders, usually I see some on Kijiji in decent shape but never really go for them,  I've never seen the Bronco one too, interesting concept for a dirt bike.

I have to agree with you about the apehangers on the CCM as standard (althought I don't mind the smaller-more compact handlebar on the Leader) it did felt a bit cramped when I brung the Voyageur home. The redlines makes up for it though! cheeky

The Leader has a number of other advantages over the CCM that it more appealing: chromed fenders versus paint, a a full chaingurd versus the pieplate style and a rear rack as tandard equipment. Gold paint versus purple is a matter of personal preference but I find the gold much nicer. One thing the CCM had in its favour, which is missing from the pictured sample, was a standard lighting system.
