Bicycles For Humanity

Bicycles for Humanity empowers disadvantaged communities in Africa by providing sustainable transportation. Gently used bikes are sent to help improve access to healthcare, education, food, water and employment.

Bicycles for Humanity is entirely volunteer-run – all donations go to transportation and the cost of a BEC. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every copy of Canada Cycle & Motor: The CCM Story goes to Bicycles For Humanity.

Bicycle Empowerment Centre (BEC) is a bicycle shop-in-a-box. It is a 40 ft shipping container, stocked with about 400 bicycles, tools, spare parts. Training is provided on bicycle mechanics and project management. The container remains at its destination to become a community-based bike shop. Doors and windows are cut out; a heat-shielding roof is placed on top. The bikes are distributed and the BEC is open for business.

Empowerment & Sustainability

Bikes are given to healthcare workers and students

New jobs are created through the bicycle shop

Income is re-invested in the local community

Economic improvement as people become mobile

Hi John,

I want to buy a couple of copies of your book... was wondering what shipping would be to Dallas, Texas zip code (Postal Code to Canadians :)  75223  I assumed the shipping cost stated was for within Canada.  My email is amlafrance1918@yahoo.com

Best Regards,

Thanks, Scott. I'll check on the shipping and get back to you.

John

Thanks, Rob. I'm holding all current orders until a decision is made tomorrow regarding Canada Post. If they go on strike, I will ship on Friday by Purolator.

Scott: I have sent you a note re: shipping to Texas.

John

Ok John, sounds good. Feel free to sign it for me. Its not quite the same as in person but oh well.

Rob

Hey John and Rob, I'll be in Perth Saturday, could pick up and deliver to the Hammer on Sunday - I'll buy a copy for me too!

Books have now been shipped. Let's hope that Canada Post doesn't mess us around.

Not sure who posted above, but unfortunately this weekend I'm in Barrie (after Almonte tonight). They do, however, have copies of the book at the Book Nook on Gore St. in Perth.
