CCM trades bike

I have a 37 tradesmans bike also called a light delivery bike.

Do any of you guys know what colours they came in?

How many of these bikes are still around? Anybody want to guess?

Have any of you guys heard of a bike called a Royal?

Saw ond at one of our Vancrusiers rides.

It looked English

Sunbeam  made a model called a "Royal".   Can you tell us a bit more about the bike,  size, model, brakes, hubs, etc., etc.

I saw a lot in black...

what colour were the rims?

When I got my trades bike the rims were red, has anyone else seen that?

Hi Ron Miller. I can't figure out how to send you an E mail with a picture of the bike, but if you send you an e mail I will send you what I have

lruskin at telus dot net.

Cheers....L

Hello Lawrence    Email:    rk.miller@ eastlink .ca         Ron

The rims I saw, were often in black  or chrome

Thanks bikedenis.

Ron did that picture come through?

You're welcome Lawrence wink

Lawrence.    have not seen a picture from you yet.    Ron

I sent them twice, I will try without the picture.

I didn't see that dot between rk and miller 'cause i'm getting bloody old, I guess.

So I think I got a picture of  this Royal through to Ron, if you wanted to put it up on this site that would be kool  as I don't know how to do that.

The story on this bike is quite interesting as it's one of the more collectible bikes in England. It's supposed to be the Rolls Royce of bikes and it certainly well built.

This English gent sent me the manual for it and it's one kool bike.

If someone needs the manual let me know.

Sunbeam made the royal sunbeam and the golden sunbeam which was pinstriped with real gold foil

So we figured out what this ''royal'' bike is.

It's a Kay Royal made in Toronto.

I don't know how to put pictures on this site, but if someone else does you can e mail me and you can put them up.

It's a well made bike.

Thanks for posting these pictures.

This bike was made by Southam and Kay bicycle works of toronto. If you look in the window of the store they had you can see a twinbar,

Too hard to see if it had a camel back top tube.

I love the way they sculpted the lugs next to the head badge.

And there you go mystery solved, and oh yes, someone got the picture of the bicycle works fron the decendant of one of the two owners, perhaps with a little work we can get more pictures from him and others and make a section on this Canadian bike.

Any of you guys out there have Kay bikes someone could take a good picture of?

So, I know this is a long shot, but is there a way to do a nose count on how many CCM light delivery bikes, also known as tradesman's bikes are still out there?

Did anyone rescue the one that was chained to a fence outside a pawn shop?.

I was told there was one at the Burnaby BC museum, turned out to be a different make of bike.

So, how many are left, and does anyone have a frame or whole bike to sell?
