Found some nice CCM's

I am new to this site as I just recently got what I think is 17 old ccm bikes, some have headbadges some are missing, one says Simpson Sears made in Yugoslavia and also a Fred Deely Cycle made in Vancouver.

I am looking to clean them up, give one to my daughter, one to my nephew etc.

I have got a sheet to help me id them by Serial # but some have been repainted and can not even see the # anymore.

Looking for some help just figuring out exactly what I have so any help as to sites I can check etc would be great, I will try and get a couple photos on asap

Thanks,

Mike

Hi and welcome Mike. I'm very curious to see your bikes. I've had my share of Deelite and still have a few. Good bikes.

Here's the first and oldest one speed coaster Deelite Apollo ladies I've got.

I don't think any bikes were made in Vancouver.

Deeley rebadged bikes that were made elsewhere..

I saw one at the harley museum, the guy that showed it to me told me who made the bike, but that was a few years ago, and I forget what he said the name of the company that made it.

Wasn't CCM if I remember, it was English

The harley museum on Boundry road is very Kool.

Most of the Apollo bicycles imported by Deeley were manufactured in Japan by Kuwahara. These frames have an open format serial number (YY MM DD), typically stamped on the lower, non-drive side on the seat tube, in the vicinity of where a front derailleur would mount.

I think Deely went through different names through time. At first they were badged Deelite (model was Apollo?), then they were Apollo and then Kuwahara. If I remember the early Deelites were from England then they might have change over Japan and used the Kuwahara frames and then be named just after the Japanese frames. That's just my theory from what I've seen with all the Deely frames I got through the years.

Yes, Deeley almost certainly used various contract manufacturers over the years. I haven't seen any pre-boom models, but it wouldn't suprise me if they were sourced from Engalnd. Certainly, by the time I was selling the Apollo brand during the boom, they coming from Kuwahara in Japan. If the brand survived the mid-1980s, the entry level models would likely have been Taiwanese

I think I will pay a visit to my steeds tomorrow and check where they are from. I have a cruiser Deelite from the 60' up to the Kuwahara mountain bike of the 80's. I'm curious to see what they have to tell me.

I've just checked 6 of my bikes from 60's to 80's and all are made in Japan. Deely might have always had a deal with Kuwahara since the beginning.
