Identifiy old bike

I bought this from a fellow here in BC, which he got from the nephew of a fellow who (so the story goes) bought the bike new in 1939.

The nephew thought this is a hercules, but I can't seem to find anything from the era that matches this bike.

The front hub is Bayliss-Wiley, the rear is a New Hercules armless brake

I appreciate any input

Possibly a Hercules bike but .... If you could give us the serial number this will give us a good idea ;)

Not a CCM frame...

Pls provide close up of the hub script and the chain ring; which looks similar to the Speedwell line of bikes sold by Eatons.  According to advertisements, these bikes used Hercules rear hubs supplied by CCM in the early 1900s.

The head tube appears to be built the same as on the Speedwell and the Road King, both Eatons sold bikes

Hello, sorry about the delay - I can't seem to find my camera, but I will.

The frame number is 34085.

Thank-you both

You can't accuse an iPad of having a good camera.

The hub reads as follows: Made in Canada, New Hercules Brake, Patent 106391, Pats. pending

Sheesh, those first two are wrong. I suppose you can't accuse an iPad of attaché the right pictures either

Not a Speedwell chainwheel, its a Magistroni (OMG) snowflake pattern , see...  http://www.blackbirdsf.org/magistroni/cranks.html.  They manufactured bicycle components from the 30s to 60sin Italy.  Their components were used on many brands of bikes.

Can't help with brand.  Perhaps there is enough contrast on the paint of the  head tube to discern shape of missing badge.  Nevertheless the frame and fenders appear to be similar to pre WW2 Eatons branded bikesan assist

Perhaps someone else can assist

Hello again vintageccm.com, here she is with some newly attached shine.

The tires have REGD 1910 on them, is this sort of like a patent? They still hold 50 psi (!!!)
