What year is my Pre-war CCM ?

I am new to Vintage CCM,

I have an old 28" Bike which i think is a pre-war model, the original colour was a dark blue, it's a 20" frame, flat fender braces, Diamond headbadge. It has been modified over the years, with a 50's seat, dino-hub, 3spd brake hub.

The serial # is 6A574 . Any idea what year this would be ?

Having trouble loading other pictures... I will try again later...

Thanks for your help, Andy

The serial number indicates it's a 1937, but I think there is typically a fourth digit after the letter "A".

Thanks ccmusclebikes, I'll check for the forth digit.

What model would this have been ? It came with painted rims. Rims were rusted through from sitting in the mud, I still have the original hubs.

Would a Troxel saddle like this be suitable ?

Thanks for your help

It could be a Standard Roadster, though the OEM wheels were spec'd with chromium plated, Endrick style rims. The only other 1937models using the camel back style frame and painted rims were the Boy Scout and the budget Crown Roadster  but neither used the standard CCM head badge. Additionally, the original colour of a Boy Scout would have been green and the Crown Roadster would not have come with a CCM Triplex crankset.

All things considered, a Standard Roadster is the most likely candidate. Ironically, the current rims appear to match the original specification, so you could bring it back to spec by re-lacing them to the original hubs. .FYI, the CCM men's models of this era did not originally come with chain guards. The Troxel is a similar style to the OEM Mesinger saddle and would not look out of place. If you scroll through the threads in the CCM History forum on this site, you will find a copy of the 1937 catalogue posted by another member.

Wow, Thanks for the info T-Mar...

Looks like i have some work to do!
