Worst Luck
So I’ve finally finished my resto on my ‘42 CCM Rambler. Seat, tires, pedals, head tube emblem and so on. When I was taking the old pedals off they were pretty much seized on so I had to use a little force and some of the threads came out with the old pedals. To describe it...it’s like the top points of the threads came off or flattened if you understand what I’m saying. So I got the new pedals in tight and the left on worked it’s way loose on the first ride. Threads on that pedals are shot but now I’m worried about the left arm thread on the crankset. I have a set of 1/2” Union pedals but I’m afraid that it will work itself loose again. Any suggestions?
So to answer my own question ...I put the old Union pedals in with some Teflon tape on the threads, went for a ride and they seem solid. I guess I might have not tightened the left one enough but I doubt it. Bottom line is I think the crank is okay...woo-hoo!
Great to hear if you need a one piece men’s crank I have a decent onev if required
Enjoy

You can also use the Permatex blue thread lock liquid available at Canadian Tire.
Unless they come loose again, I would just leave the teflon tape in there.
Or you could just tap them for 9/16" pedals. The taps are fairly common - I have a pair.

The pedals were Persons Majestic reproductions. They looked good but I’d prefer a set of plain old block pedals without reflectors. I got a set of waffle block pedals from France but they sent 9/16 by mistake.1/2” are hard to find.
I have pedals available both types are NOS
What is the price on those pedals?
thanks
