Upgrading Hubs and Wheels

To make my bikes (more) rideable I have been replacing the original CCM hubs in my 30's and 40's bikes with drum front brakes and multi gear coaster brake hubs.

Ive found that the Shimano nexus 8 and 3 speeds work quite well for the rear. They are a bit wider than the 37 hub but go in with just a bit of force. Serious frame stretch is not required.

Also, I have found some vintage sachs vt3000 drum brakes for the front. The sachs hubs arent powerful enough to lock up the front wheel and the old forks seem to take the punishment quite well.

Another Road Racer Question - Top Tube Angle

Hi All, sorry for being such a chatty Cathy but I have been working on the Road Racer and keep coming up with questions (some I already had the answer to blush)....

Tire Size Confusion

When I acquired the 38 Road Racer, it still had original Dunlop Speedster tires in red, however the original wheels had been replaced (from the history of the bike in the mid 1970s).

Here's the confusion:  the tires are marked 28 x 1 1/4 ("For Endrick Rim"), which should translate to 622mm (or 700C) size in more modern terms.  However, the  replacement wheels have French Chromlux 27 x 1 1/4 rims, which are 630mm diameter.

1927 Massey Questions

I recently acquired a 1927 CCM Massey men's frame. It's just a bare frame with a badge and nothing else, not even a fork. I have enough 1920s CCM parts to build it, but I have two questions I hope someone can help with:

1970 Galaxie

Hello, I was needing information on a  1970 women's galaxie bike internal gears in the sprocket of the back rim. I'm not very familiar with this set up. I purchased this gem at an auction for 8 dollars. Nice condition, original equipment.

It is nostalgic to me since it was made the year I was born.

Information on this bike would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time:

1951 & 1955 CCM Flyer Frames

Flyer Blue Bird?

Does anyone know the history behind the Blue Bird decal on early CCM Flyers? Did a bike with this decal differ in any way from other Flyers, or was it just there because of the frame was blue? What years was the decal used? I know of blue Flyers from the 1920s and '30s with this decal and a blue 1951 Prof Racer Flyer that doesn't have it.

Wayne has not reproduced this decal. Does anyone have a NOS BB decal from CCM?
