My Humphrey Planet

Hi all, I'm hoping the astute membership can help me confirm the date on my recently acquired,(saved from the junk pile behind a local bike shop), Humphrey Planet.

I'm looking for an era appropriate saddle so would like to confirm the date first.

Apologies for the inverted pic that is a "t" in the serial number.

I think its a1948 but not sure. Any insight is appricciated.

Thank you, Doug

New here and please be patient. Thanks.

Hi everybody!

For the first time in my life I went to a tractor pull in a small town in Quebec.

I'm glad I did.

I found a CCM bicycle and by perusing this site, I found out that it is a Motorbike of 1923 vintage. So the number states on the seat post.

BUT the rear hub says, on the side, CCM "37"  Pat. 1937

The center has a number: 172956

Okay now....take a deep breath....

On it is mounted a Ducati engine, the Cucciolo, the serial number indicates a Type 2 from 1948

The engine is rare, the bike is rare.

New in the hobby

Hi, I'm from Amherstburg Ontario (near Windsor). Just getting started in the hobby. Really enjoy foolin around with the bikes. Just got two, a vintage CCM and a Vintage Raleigh. There is a number on the ccm seat post. Best I can see is 3P6405, the 'o' could be a 9. Can't find anything on the Raleigh. Any educated guesses as to what era I'm looking at.

Good Day To All!

I am new to this user group and am glad to have found it. From what I have read, it sure is filled with friendly & helpful people.

My Almost-Vintage CCM is a Concorde that I bought new. I only call it Almost-Vintage because if the bike is old enough to be called "Vintage", that makes me really, really vintage!. I'm not ready for that title quite yet!

I picked up a 1948 CCM balloon roadster in 1991 from an elderly gentleman. The original intent was to use the bike at the weather office on the Moose Jaw airbase. The weather observers used cheap multi-speed bicycles to go out and have a look around at the sky during their shifts. They were not exactly careful with how they treated these bikes. A replacement bike was needed, so I offered to hunt one down. Since I had found and paid for the bike ($25.00) I thought about this fact as I took the bike out to the base. Thankfully, I reconsidered the idea and took the bike home, instead.

Greetings from Ontario?
