Planet Bicycles

Recently a lady brought an old bike for my friend and I to repair, the badge says Planet, made by Planet Sports And Cyclery, Toronto Ontario, thats all on the headbadge. It appears to me to be a 40ish singlebar roadster with a Perry hub and a Williams chainring. Does anyone have any history on Planet Bicycles? How long were they in business?

Light delivery bike

So I'm still trying to get some idea of how many of these bikes were made. Does anyone know how many CCMs were made each year?

Does anyone know what percentage of light delivery bikes were built each year? 10% of the run?

What other models were built. what percent of girls bikes for example; what % of woman's bikes?

Who's going to sell me an engine for my 1937 LDB    A nice little Pixey with all the hardware, oh please.

Found some nice CCM's

I am new to this site as I just recently got what I think is 17 old ccm bikes, some have headbadges some are missing, one says Simpson Sears made in Yugoslavia and also a Fred Deely Cycle made in Vancouver.

I am looking to clean them up, give one to my daughter, one to my nephew etc.

I have got a sheet to help me id them by Serial # but some have been repainted and can not even see the # anymore.

Looking for some help just figuring out exactly what I have so any help as to sites I can check etc would be great, I will try and get a couple photos on asap

Thanks,

Bearing adjustments

Well, everyone seems to have a different opinion on how to adjust what bearing on a bicycle.  The reason I bring this up, is that on the past 5 out of 6 CCM's I have worked on the front hubs are cracked.  To me it looks like the cones have been adjusted too tight.  These are all old (50's to 70's) bikes that have probably lived lives of misuse and abuse.  Is this a common failure for these hubs?

Torchy Peden' bike

I went to the airport in Calgary yesterday and I saw they had an exhibit for Canadian hall of fame. There was the gold plated CCM that was given to William "Torchy" Peden in 1938. What a beauty! I must have stared at it for 20 minutes if not more. Too bad I didn't had any means of taking a picture.

Camelback

Why was the top tube bent into the camelback shape?

Was it for artistic reasons or did someone think it would make it stronger?

WINNER HEADBADGE ON CCM BICYCLE

Here are some pics of a 'WINNER' badged CCM bicycle (1925 serial #), I recently picked up.  Wood rims, New Hercules rear hub, Hercules crankset, CCM stars chain guard and CCM rear rack/stand. http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad20/dobie45/1925%20WINNER%20%20MADE%20BY%20CCM/

Can anyone provide any info on the WINNER brand? Does anyone have one? Any info appreciated.  Only the letters WINNER are on the badge.  Cheers

Looking for decals - CCM Targa

Hi all,

I'm looking for new decals for a 1975 CCM Targa.  Actually if I can find decent artwork I can have the decals made by a friend who's in the decal business. The frame I have was repainted and has no decals at all.

The only artwork I've found so far is this picture for the seat tube decal:

And this picture for the "Targa" on the top tube:

Bought this beauty last weekend

Haven't got it home yet. My son is picking it up this week. All original except the tires and grips. I'm the second owner. First owner bought it new as a nine-year-old in 1950.
