Well, everyone seems to have a different opinion on how to adjust what bearing on a bicycle. The reason I bring this up, is that on the past 5 out of 6 CCM's I have worked on the front hubs are cracked. To me it looks like the cones have been adjusted too tight. These are all old (50's to 70's) bikes that have probably lived lives of misuse and abuse. Is this a common failure for these hubs?
I went to the airport in Calgary yesterday and I saw they had an exhibit for Canadian hall of fame. There was the gold plated CCM that was given to William "Torchy" Peden in 1938. What a beauty! I must have stared at it for 20 minutes if not more. Too bad I didn't had any means of taking a picture.
Why was the top tube bent into the camelback shape?
Was it for artistic reasons or did someone think it would make it stronger?
Here are some pics of a 'WINNER' badged CCM bicycle (1925 serial #), I recently picked up. Wood rims, New Hercules rear hub, Hercules crankset, CCM stars chain guard and CCM rear rack/stand. http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad20/dobie45/1925%20WINNER%20%20MADE%20BY%20CCM/
Can anyone provide any info on the WINNER brand? Does anyone have one? Any info appreciated. Only the letters WINNER are on the badge. Cheers
Hi all,
I'm looking for new decals for a 1975 CCM Targa. Actually if I can find decent artwork I can have the decals made by a friend who's in the decal business. The frame I have was repainted and has no decals at all.
The only artwork I've found so far is this picture for the seat tube decal:

And this picture for the "Targa" on the top tube:
Haven't got it home yet. My son is picking it up this week. All original except the tires and grips. I'm the second owner. First owner bought it new as a nine-year-old in 1950.
I bought this CCM Silver Ghost a few weeks ago. The frame has been repainted. It was missing the seat post. I don't think the foam on the handle bars is original and I don't know if the seat and pedals are original to the bike. Other than that it looks pretty much stock. Weinmann centre pull brakes, Shimano Crane rear derailieurs and a very light steel frame stamped "Made by CCM" on the rear dro
