Question About Front Derailleur and Cable Jacket

Hello!

I am trying to keep my Concorde as OEM as possible. One of the items on my "Put It Back" list is the front derailleur. It came with a Simplex Prestige. I believe it was model AV 223.

Chain Lubrication Question

Hi All!

I've been messin' with bicycles for something over 50 years and have never found trustworthy advice about chain & sproket lubrication. Aside from many product suggestions, whether to lube or run dry is always debated.

The members of this group seem to care about protecting & enjoying their bicycles far more than they care about the 'cool thing' to use or do.

Flyte bottom bracket removal

I managed to get the crank arms off (thanks for the suggestions!) and I'm starting on the BB.  Any tricks to this process? Is the drive side left hand/reverse thread like on most modern bikes?  Thanks again.

Hi,  I have been working on this problem for some time.  I have tried penetrating oil, products called Kroil and Release all, and I am considering heat and other options.  I have heard about soaking this in apple cider vinager and molasses and water to remove rust.  So far I have managed to knock the wedge loose, but the stem is stuck.

Restoration Question 1--New Hercules Coaster Brakes

Hi,

I am taking one of these hubs apart, in order to clean it and rebuild a wooden rim wheel.  When I took the cog and threaded shaft off, I found that the cages for the ball bearings were totally gone, with just bits remaining.  Can I reinstall this with loose bearings, or do I need the correct cages/races?

Thanks!  --David Webb

A Few Questions About My Concorde

Hello All!

I am new to this group and have, if you all don't mind, a few questions about my Concorde that you all will surely know more aobut than I do. My original files about the bike were lost to theft many years ago. I'm trying to re-construct before I forget too many details. (Every time I learn something new, something old gets pushed  out. I hope whatever pushed out the CCM details was really important!)

The first concerns the year of build and model year. It should help me remember when I bought the bicycle.

1955(?) CCM Rambler Road Bicycle...

I found this nice and little used 1955 (best guess based on rear wheel hub) CCM Rambler the other day.  Sadly, I know nothing about the bicycle and any information that can be shared here would be appreciated.

I plan to take pictures, clean the bike up, take more pictures then pass it on to someone else.  Look for a feature article on my website, MY "TEN SPEEDS", in day, or weeks, or months to come.

I have posted some pictures on another forum site.  If you send me a personal email, I will link you to the pictures.

My Cottage Ride - Frankenbike

Here is one I ride at the cottage,   Its a 1937 tall frame  CCM Roadster, 1970s chrome rear fenders & chainguard, V160 rims, Triplex crankset, note the professional electrical taping on the lobdell saddle.  Jamie will appreciate this one
